Also, I have seen Ida's maiden name written as Sapiro, Sopilior and Zepilis. Does anyone have any insight into what the name might actually have been? My assumption is that it was a variation of Shapiro.

7/1/2026 4:16 PM Can anyone help me to identify town of Čojak? This is from marriage register of Sisak from 1884, today Croatia, then Austria-Hungary. Groom is from Čojak, bride is from Papa, Veszprem, Hungary, but obviously lived in Sisak then. I found only one mention of Čojak in Osijek, Croatia. There is a Csajag in Veszprem, Hungary with one or two Weiss families. View the post, there are no responses

7/1/2026 4:15 PM This should be marriage of Itzko Malinsky and Khana. I believe Itzko's father was Gershko, and Khana's father was Meyer-Gersh. Can you confirm this is the correct record, and that the parents names are correct, and what Khana's maiden name was?

7/1/2026 4:15 PM Attached is a document from the 1936 case of Hero of the Soviet Union Semyon Samuilovich Levin, my second great-uncle, in the Communist Party (courtesy of RGASPI). Would appreciate your assistance in its translation.

(Side note: my final attempt to contact RGASPI was made thanks to Mrs. Svetlana. I could not obtain the 1954 case as well, since Levin's birth record was required, and I am currently unable to obtain it.)

7/1/2026 4:14 PM I believe that this letter was sent by my great-grandfather Abraham Felder to friends in the US who knew his family in Bricheva, Bessarabia. The Felders also came to the US in the early 1920s. I would be grateful for a translation.

7/1/2026 4:14 PM I am requesting the translation of a Kovno marriage certificate from 25-6-1892.
I found it on LitvakSIG.

I am looking for a translation of row 50, the last two columns on the Russian side and the last two columns on the Hebrew side.

I want to see if this could be the marriage record of Max Mattison and Lena Ennis. Max and Lena were married about 1892 according to a US document.

A family story says there was a name change to Mattison from Zamattison upon immigration. Max's son said Max was was born in Kiev. US records show Max was born about 1869. Max was a tailor.

US documents say Lena was born in Lithuania. Her father was named Hirsch or Harry. Her mother was Liebe Klevansky or Libbie Weiner depending on the record. Lena was born about 1871.

Max and Lena had a child Sadie, born March 21, 1893 in Kauyna, Lithuania.

The Hebrew inscription on Max's gravestone is "Michal, son of Israel Eliyah". Lena's grave inscription is “Here lies Leah Devorah, daughter of Reb Tzvi.” 		View the post with its 4 responses

Akta 23 is a 1909 birth record from Zaręby Kościelne, Łomża, Poland for my father’s third-cousin. I would be grateful if someone could translate it in full (or at least everything that isn’t the standard wording of a birth record).

Names that I would expect to see in the text are:
- the child: Chaim Mendel SIEDLECKI;
- his father: Judko SIEDLECKI, son of Yuszka Boruch SIEDLECKI and Maria ARTESTRŻELENIEC;
- his mother: Chaja Ryfka BERGMAN, daughter of Icek BERGMAN and Touba Leja GRZYBOWICZ.

6/28/2026 3:57 PM My great grandfather died in 1908 and I believe was born in 1847 ?? when I was searching for his birth record I found this death record?? and I suspect that my great grandfather was in fact named after his brother who died the year before he was born ??

I would be very grateful if someone could check and translate this image and either confirm or correct my understanding ??
