This is the gravestone of a cousin who died in WW1. I would like help translating the Hebrew text to see if it references others in his family such as his father or other information.

"Bachur" is a Hebrew word that is used to describe a young (unmarried) man

Shimon (SHIM-own) is Hebrew for Simon.

'Reb' is an honorific; it does not mean rabbi.

Yehoshua (yeh-hoe-SHOO-ah) is Hebrew for Joshua.

Heshel (HEH-shl)is a variation of the Yiddish name Hershel, which means 'little deer'. (The Hebrew equivalent would be the name Tzvi).

Rather than being given in the standard month-day-and-year format, the date of death is expressed in terms of the holiday with which it coincided. He passed away (was killed in battle?} on "Shemini Atzeret". [“Shemini Atzeret” is a holiday that occurs the day after the 7th day of Sukkot (which is also known as the holiday of “Booths” or “Tabernacles”) and is considered sort-of the eighth day of Sukkot; Sukkot is celebrated two weeks after Rosh Hashanah. The 8th day of Sukkot is always the 22nd day of the month of Tishri.]

Shemini Atzeret of the Jewish year 5679 began at sunset on September 27th, 1918, and ended at sunset on the 28th.
