 The author was born in Secureni, Khotin uezd, Besarabia. He is a Holocaust survivor deported with parents and sister to Transnistria (1941-1944). His great anthology of Jewish biographies include many for people born in Bessarabia, in towns Kishinev, Ungheni, Kalarash, Khotin, Dondushani, Leova, Soroki, and others.
