5/8/2024 2:06 PM This is the Introduction page of the book Ahbad Chesed written by my second great-uncle Rabbi Jakob Kagan in 1930. It's a commentary on the Book of Ruth. I"d appreciate a complete translation of this one page. I believe in the second paragraph he mentions his deceased wife Beila.
Many thanks, Ed Friedel.

5/8/2024 2:06 PM Browsing through Polish state archive images I found this listing of what I think are deaths. The name that I was looking for - Cymes, Abram Leib - on this index I believe is item 27 (Akt 15) towards the bottom of the list on the left hand page. (Unfortunately, the page that contains actual document is missing from the individual scans - frustrating!) I was hoping someone would confirm that this is indeed a death list for 1910 from Zambrow and that Akt15 is Cymes, Abraham Leib. I want to be sure because the family has a letter from him that is dated December, 1911. Does the paragraph on the right hand side say that the index was compiled retroactively in 1914? I wonder if the death was not in 1910 but later? View the post with its 1 response

5/8/2024 2:05 PM This is a letter from Aaron (Sometimes called Adolf) Eben to his grandson Hans Roth. Hans is my grandfather. The letter is from a personal collection.

A full translation would be nice but we are mostly interested in names and relations and any information on their movements during German occupation.

5/8/2024 2:05 PM This letter was found by a descendent of the unknown writer or the recipient. The Chaiken-Hiken family (Joseph/Yosef Naftali and Beldana) immigrated to the Milwaukee area in the early 1900s, and the finder is the grandson of their only daughter Sarah Hiken Davidson. She had 8 brothers and all sibs were born between 1888 and 1901. The family originated in now Belarus around Sialiba & Bobrusk. Beldana died in 1915 so its not a letter by her. That's all I know. Looking for summery, names, places. etc - View the post with its 1 response
