This is the cover page of Ahbat Chesed, a commentary on the Book of Ruth published in Grajewo, Poland in 1930 written by Jakob Kahan, my second great-uncle. I'd appreciate a complete translation. Thanks, Ed Friedel

=========================================
The Biblical Book of Ruth (in Hebrew: the Scroll of Ruth) is one of a set of five Biblical books referred to as “The Five Scrolls”. The Book of Ruth is read in the Synagogue during the upcoming holiday of Shavuot.

hebrewbooks.org is a website dedicated to the preservation of older Hebrew books. They have scanned many thousands of books and made them available to the public. This particular book was scanned by someone named Chaim, in the year 5769 (Rosh Hashanah 2008 – Rosh Hashanah 2009).

The author is not identified as a rabbi in the Hebrew, simply as “Yaakov” (Jacob). However, the abbreviation in front of his name at the bottom, “Rab.”, would seem to indicate that he was a rabbi. The abbreviation in front of his father’s name is probably ‘Reb’, which is an honorary title but does not mean rabbi.

There is some ambiguity as to whether it was the author himself, or his father, who was the Ritual Slaughterer/Inspector. (One does not need to be a rabbi in order to be a Shochet.)

I was unable to find a city named Vansas (or maybe Vonsas or Vanasas or Vonasas) among cities listed in the Province of Lomza.

From the Hebrew, it is impossible to know whether the name of the printer began with an F or a P, but it was a P. There is much written about him on this page: https://www.jewishgen.org/yizkor/grajewo/gra293.html

The year 5691 ranged from Rosh Hashanah of 1930 to Rosh Hashanah of 1931.
