This is the Hebrew portion of a marriage record between my great-grandaunt Alta Danishefsky from Smorgon (Belarus) and her first husband, Shlioma Katz, also from Smorgon. Could someone please translate the three columns on the right, which I have highlighted in the attached photo? Does the record indicate that the couple was subsequently divorced? Thank you for your help!!! |

I am mainly interested in the names mentioned in the caption of this photo. Who is it about? Who signed it? |

The photo is a transcript of an epitaph I obtained from chewra.com for (presumably) a Lejb, son of Jaakov. A translation of a headstone we have from a 100+ year old family history says the intact tombstone at that time included:
"Here rests:
A pious and righteous man.
He lived a long and just life.
In the mornings he was one of the first and in the evenings one of the last to depart from the House of Prayer. He served the community as an official with loyal devotion for 40 years.
This is the learned Mister Leib (Leopold or Lowi), son of the learned Mister Jacob.
May his memory be a blessing."
I would like to know if the chewra transcription - a fragment as the tombstone is broken - corresponds with our family history.

The photo is a transcript of an epitaph I obtained from chewra.com for (presumably) Mirl, wife of Lejb, daughter of Abraham. A translation of a headstone we have from a 100+ year old family history says the intact tombstone at that time included:
"Here rests:
One who was blessed by the happy women in their tents,
All the days of her life she followed the path of virtue
She led her children onto the road of righteousness
She was the daughter of distinguished parents
Godliness shone from her countenance
This is the proper, modest, respectable Mrs. Mirl (Marjana), daughter of Mr. Abraham, descendant of pious priests."
I would like to know if the chewra transcription - a fragment as the tombstone is broken - corresponds with our family history.

This photo relates to two others I just submitted regarding translation of a fragment of headstones from the Osoblaha cemetery. This image includes some of the epitaph in handwritten Hebrew, for a Leib (son of Jaakov) and wife Mirl (daughter of Abraham).
If anyone can read it, I'm hoping to find out whether this corresponds to the headstone we identified on chewra.com as being our family member. Many thanks for any assistance. |

This letter was written in by my grandmother in 1952 around the time she visited some family in Los Angeles - perhaps before she came to our home. |

Image associated with Hana Bayla LOTTO. I think it is related to her marriage to Mendel SZTABZYB. It is signed by Lewek LOTTO who would have been her father. She may have been my 2nd great-grandaunt and Lewek my 3rd great grandfather. I would like to know what the document is and what it says. Thank you. |

This 1908 postcard from Fanny Sugarman (San Francisco, but born near Traby, Belarus) to Jacob Levin (South Africa) was never sent it would appear. I would very much appreciate a translation of the yiddish (I assume, could be Hebrew?) on the left side of this image. |
