Search the Archive

Browse the VM archive to view user-generated images of Jewish historical subjects, documents, culture and places, up close. A new response feature now allows you to add your response to those older, often unanswered archived images. Please respond with relevant information when you can. Here's how. Sort the first column (VM ID) by clicking on the column title for the oldest or the latest images. Select an image. Next click "Add Response".

Alternatively, narrow your search by clicking "Search Archive," above, and type specific search terms.

Your input deserves our thanks and praise, for it may help a Gen'er in new and rewarding ways.
Countless unnamed and dedicated volunteers from across the globe deserve our gratitude. They freely offer their time and skills responding to ViewMate requests. Giving to others will come back to them.

Note: Viewmate's first saved image is #227.

To sort by a column, click the column title. Then click the sort icon [D] to reverse the order.
You will be able to view responses online if available. Items will open in a new browser window.

4/29/2026 3:59 PM Hello, according to the information in JRI, this is the marriage registration of Avraham Orenstein and Minitsa Dobrosh in the city of Mogielnica in 1861. I would appreciate it if you could extract or translate more details. (Including: a more precise date, and additional names, and of course, cities of origin if any.)

With all due respect
And many thanks

114311 Sharing Document

4/26/2026 7:11 PM I want to share my exclusion experience as Jewish family history. Since I have been forced to being silent while many of my rights were violated with lies and deception. The silence to our Jewish communities must be stopped and I will stand to fight for that. The first step is to being active, and that is why I'm sharing my story. 4/26/2026 7:09 PM Hello from Paris,
Could you please translate this birth certificate for a child named Goldsztajn, born in the town of Zwolen in 1903?
At this point, I have no information about the child or his or her parents; I would appreciate it if you could provide as complete a translation as possible.
Thank you in advance.

4/26/2026 7:08 PM Hi,
These are 3 birth/death records of two brothers, Berek Lejbus Nusbaum and Hil Nusbaum, from 1828 and 1830.
I'm interested in knowing only the exact original surname of their mother, Brandla, and whether it is mentioned as an actual surname or as a patronym.
In addition, in the death record of Berek Laybus, in what house number does his father live?
thanks,
Ido
