His parents were called Eliasz Frydel and Mirla Marya SZWARCBERG (Frydel)

Her parents were called Pinkus LAKS and Tauba FRIDEL (LAKS)

His parents were called Abram Moszek Moskowicz and Feiga Dymant (Moskowicz).
I'm not sure it's written in Polish. Perhaps it's written in Russian.

This should be the first part of an interview with a survivor of the holocaust who was imprisoned in a forced labor camp in Austria. Since I don't know any Hebrew maybe someone could help me to figure out if the Town "Hauskirchen" is mentioned or the camp itself? (1) Fiszel's occupation. (I was told the record says that Ruchla Laja's father Icek was a day labourer, but does it say that Fiszel was also a day labourer? He remarried later that year and THAT document says he was a baker, so trying to resolve the inconsistency since it is almost certainly the same person.
(2) As best I can decipher, the document seems to refer to both Ruchla Laja and Ruchli Lai. Would like to confirm and if the difference is explained somehow by the context used. Thank you.

Commentary believed to be in Yiddish script found in a Hebrew Bible belonging to my GF. He was born in Riga Latvia in 1874. He was said to have been a self-proclaimed biblical scholar who often assisted a local Protestant pastor prepare his weekly sermon in the early 1900s. If this is translatable, there are a dozen or more other notes written on envelopes and small sheets of paper which I can submit. The image may be upside-down.

This is my Great Grandmother's civil wedding certificate.
I am trying to find out more about the Rabbi who officiated (surname - Woolf, first name unclear, perhaps Wm. denoting William?) and to identify the synagogue in which the marriage might have taken place. Does anyone have any information pertaining to a Rabbi Woolf, who officiated marriages in Johannesburg in the 1930s?
Help deciphering the address listed for my Great Grandmother would be helpful. It looks to be in the Yeoville suburb of Johannesburg, but I can't read the rest. It may give a clue as to the likely shul in which the marriage would have taken place.
The Race/Ras is also listed as E - does anyone know what this refers to in civil wedding certificates in South Africa at that time? |
