I am trying to discern the towns that my great grandfather and grandmother emigrated from - one in Russian Poland and one from somewhere in Austria. I can only make out the names of "Austria" and Poland. I am trying to determine if they were Jewish although they raised their children Catholic once they established themselves in Philadelphia, PA. |

I would appreciate a translation of all the text if possible. This is on the back of a newly discovered photo which appears to show my paternal grandfather as a young man. He is standing next to a horse-drawn carriage belonging to Boston Store. I’m reasonable sure this is the one in Chicago as that is where he lived between leaving the Villna region and coming to the UK. His name was Abraham Abramovitch, later Abrams. His parents’ names were Ida and Aaron, his sisters Mirrel and Yetta. The card may have been written to, or by, one of them. Having any of this text in English would be an enormous gift - thank you |

This is the birth act of Glicka FRYDEL, born about 1864 in Rawa Mazowiecka.
Her parents were called Eliasz FRYDEL and Mirla Marya SZWARCBERG (Frydel).
I'm not sure this act is written in Polish. Maybe it's written in RUssian.
I would like to get the translation in English or in French.

This is the 2nd page of a letter written by great-grandmother, Ida Flatow to a cousin of hers, Rukhl Leah Levitan (Flatow) who she recently regained contact with after meeting with her in Haifa. This 2nd page is also my great-grandmothers response to a letter written by her cousins. Before the first page ended she was talking about how her aunt Bayla was. This inscription is written on the back of my grandparent's wedding photo. Finesilver is the family name of my grandfather who was born in Bessarabia. I cannot decipher or recognise the next word. I am hoping it could be the town of his birth. Can anyone who knows this part of the world venture a guess as to the meaning of the middle word or name? |
