Browse the VM archive to view user-generated images of Jewish historical subjects, documents, culture and places, up close. A new response feature now allows you to add your response to those older, often unanswered archived images. Please respond with relevant information when you can. Here's how. Sort the first column (VM ID) by clicking on the column title for the oldest or the latest images. Select an image. Next click "Add Response".

Alternatively, narrow your search by clicking "Search Archive," above, and type specific search terms.

Your input deserves our thanks and praise, for it may help a Gen'er in new and rewarding ways.
Countless unnamed and dedicated volunteers from across the globe deserve our gratitude. They freely offer their time and skills responding to ViewMate requests. Giving to others will come back to them.

Note: Viewmate's first saved image is #227.

To sort by a column, click the column title. Then click the sort icon [D] to reverse the order.
You will be able to view responses online if available. Items will open in a new browser window.

On the envelope somebody wrote, "Letters to Morris Gittlen from Shmuel David Gittlen 1934. So these were addressed to Morris Gittlen in Harrisburg, but I am not sure if they were from his father or brother in Dokshitsy.

I'm hoping someone can translate the Hebrew inscription. I'm especially interested in the name of her father, if it's still legible.
Thanks!

10/20/2021 4:44 PM This is Akta Jozefow Nad Wisla 1890 M16, the marriage of Efraim/Froim GRYNFELD to Chana GOLDMAN. A full translation would be nice but most important are all dates, the couple's ages, towns, and professions, their parents names, ages, towns, and professions and whether they are living, any patronymics or matronymics, any other relatives, house numbers, the Rabbi, witnesses, and signatures...
