Browse the VM archive to view user-generated images of Jewish historical subjects, documents, culture and places, up close. A new response feature now allows you to add your response to those older, often unanswered archived images. Please respond with relevant information when you can. Here's how. Sort the first column (VM ID) by clicking on the column title for the oldest or the latest images. Select an image. Next click "Add Response".

Alternatively, narrow your search by clicking "Search Archive," above, and type specific search terms.

Your input deserves our thanks and praise, for it may help a Gen'er in new and rewarding ways.
Countless unnamed and dedicated volunteers from across the globe deserve our gratitude. They freely offer their time and skills responding to ViewMate requests. Giving to others will come back to them.

Note: Viewmate's first saved image is #227.

To sort by a column, click the column title. Then click the sort icon [D] to reverse the order.
You will be able to view responses online if available. Items will open in a new browser window.

11/10/2021 3:54 PM Please help translate this death record number 39 which I put lines around. So far, I have that the person's name was Jachad Szuster, that she was born and died in Uscie Biskupie, and that her father was Abraham. I am particularly interested in learning what (a) was her age, i.e., what does 2/52 mean; (b) was her cause of death; and (c) does it say in columns 2 and 3.
Thank you,
Ed Shapiro

Who is the mother?
Was this a late registration (registered 1865), and if so, when was Giela actually born?

Thanks,

11/10/2021 3:51 PM I'm not sure if the resolution is high enough (It's the best I've got), but I would appreciate a translation by a kind soul who reads Russian. This was a ransom note sent to Lydia Shapiro, the girlfriend of a young Jewish man who had been kidnapped in Manchuria, and was probably intended for his father, Josef. I'm working on a book about this family. View the post with its 1 response
