Browse the VM archive to view user-generated images of Jewish historical subjects, documents, culture and places, up close. A new response feature now allows you to add your response to those older, often unanswered archived images. Please respond with relevant information when you can. Here's how. Sort the first column (VM ID) by clicking on the column title for the oldest or the latest images. Select an image. Next click "Add Response".

Alternatively, narrow your search by clicking "Search Archive," above, and type specific search terms.

Your input deserves our thanks and praise, for it may help a Gen'er in new and rewarding ways.
Countless unnamed and dedicated volunteers from across the globe deserve our gratitude. They freely offer their time and skills responding to ViewMate requests. Giving to others will come back to them.

Note: Viewmate's first saved image is #227.

To sort by a column, click the column title. Then click the sort icon [D] to reverse the order.
You will be able to view responses online if available. Items will open in a new browser window.

12/1/2021 12:28 PM Hi,
Can any one help me extract the genealogical information from the death record of Icek Wolf Szpigelman (#7)?
Full translation would be appreciated. If not possible, only the extraction of the vital info (including wife and children, if stated) will be fine.

Thanks in advance,
Yotam.

12/1/2021 12:27 PM I would like a full translation, since I'm sure what detail(s) in the record might be a clue as to whether this is the person I'm thinking it might possibly be. Also, would be curious whether name could be interpreted as Grün. View the post with its 4 responses

96153 Translation - Tombstone

12/1/2021 12:26 PM This is the tombstone of my great great great grandfather. Sorry for the angles image. I cannot find the cemetery, so this is the best photo I have. I would like the Hebrew translated. I believe I have figured out his father's name, but I would like confirmation on my (limited) abilities to translate the Hebrew. Thank you. 96151 Photo Identification

12/1/2021 12:25 PM Partial view of a group of soldiers that belong to the "I battalion - 1922, 42 regiment".
My great-uncle, Vilmos LEICHT, was born in 1902 in Dunaszerdahely, Hungary. But in 1922, this was part of Czechoslovakia.
What army would this be? Czech or Hungarian? Is this some kind of military service? Did they train near their village? Where can I find more information about this regiment? Maybe a list of recruits?
Thanks in advance for any information.
