Can anyone help identifying anything in this image? For example, where this house may be, when it might have been taken?
There is no information on the back of the photograph, which came from a box of old family photos.
The family lived in Latvia and Lithuania, near the towns of Rokiskis and Subate.

Could you use a flat bed scanner
to scan / zoom text in signs of this house?

Style of such house can be from Latvia.

The blurred image of the person walking by the house seems to be of woman in modern dress--probably dating from between the 1920s and 1930s--wearing a hat, coat, probably stockings since her legs seem to be exposed until just below the knee, and shoes that look like pumps. The house is pretty large--possibly it's not a private residence, but a business or administrative building or some combination of the three. As the other commenter mentioned, it would help to be able to read what the sign says. Even if you couldn't specifically read it, being able to determine what languange(s) the characters are in might tell you something. Good luck.
