I have transcribed most of it, but am having a hard time reading the father’s name. Is it Osman? Hausman? Also, is Golda correct as the second name of the deceased?

Here lies
‎פ״ט

(Mrs.) Rebecca Golda/Galda daughter of (Mr.) Osman
‎מ׳ רבקה גאלדא בת ר׳ אוסמן

Died on the 2nd of Nissan, 5688
‎נפטרה ב׳ ניסן ת׳ר׳פ׳ח׳

She was 67 years old.
‎בת ס״ז שנים

May her soul be bound up in the bond of life.

4/17/2024 3:08 PM You did a great job!

I prefer to do full translations, so here is mine:

Here is interred

Mrs. RIVKA GOLDA daughter of Reb Zussman

She passed away 2 Nisan 688 according to the small count [in other words, 5688; the leading digit is understood]

at the age of 67 years.

May her soul be bound up in the bond of life.

Rivka is the Hebrew version of the name Rebecca. Golda (as in Golda Meir) is a Yiddish name meaning ‘the golden one’.

‘Reb’ is an honorific; it does not mean rabbi.

Her father’s name is spelled zayin-vav-samech-mem-nun. It is a Yiddish name, Zussman, and means ‘the sweet man’ (it comes from the German “suess-mann”). Zussman is used both as a first and a last name.

The symbol after the Hebrew year is a ligature (character combining several); it combines the lamed, fay, and kuf of the phrase ‘lifrat katan’, according to the small detail.

4/17/2024 3:58 PM Hello, Katherine,

You are very welcome.

If you respond to a reply using the original ViewMate page, the helper might not see it. It was only by chance that I saw your comment.

The email that you received with the response should have included the recommended way to contact helpers. (This also is a better way to ask any follow-up questions).
4/17/2024 5:16 PM I realize that I might have been unclear when I wrote "Zussman is used both as a first and a last name."

I should have written "Zussman can be used as a first name or as a last name. In this case, of course, it was the father's first name".
