This is the tombstone of my husband’s great grandmother’s brother. He is buried in Har Nebo Cemetery in Philadelphia. I seek a translation of the Hebrew text on the stone. This man’s mother & father are supposed to be buried in Har Nebo, but they can’t seem to be found there. This man & his family of origin are from Poltava, Russia/Poland. I am hoping for more family clues & info possibly from the Hebrew text. This photo is a screen shot of a photo taken for me and placed on Find-a-Grave. This is the tombstone of Dr Morris H Barrin.

my dear son, the important, the Bachur

___ MOSHE son of Reb Yitzchak the Cohen

He passed away 4 Cheshvan 5672

May his soul be bound up in the bond of life

===============================================
'Reb' is an honorific; it does not mean rabbi.

His father's name, Yitzchak, is Hebrew for Isaac.

"Bachur" is a term that indicates an unmarried (usually young) man

His name is preceded by a three-letter word (kemar? spelled kaf-mem-resh) that I have encountered before on the stone of a "bachur"; I do not know its meaning.

He and his father were Cohanim (plural of Cohen). A Cohen is a member of the priestly tribe. The first priest was Aaron, Moses' brother, and this designation is passed down from father to son. Cohanim had specific functions in the Temples, and still receive special recognition -- and have special obligations -- today.

I am afraid the only family detail on the stone is the Hebrew name of his father. If you are looking for his father's stone: SOME stones of Cohanim (although not the one in this post) have an image at the top that reflects the Cohen status: it is an image of two hands in position to bless the congregation.
