Bessarabian Databases. Updates ready for everybody at JewishGen. Records are available already.

Below is a list of updates sent to JewishGen. Thank you very much to all volunteers who worked on these Bessarabian projects.


• Bessarabia Vital Records. 7,537 records including Births, Marriages and Deaths for Kishinev, Beltsy, Aleksandreny, Valea lui Vlad, Khotin, Novoselitsa and more.

• Bessarabia Court Records. 3,366 records including records for different courts of Kishinev questura, Kishinev Sigurantsa, Kishinev police questura, Soroka-Yassy District Court, Orhei District Court, Cahul District Court, Insolvent debtors, Kishinev temporary Magistrate added.

• Bessarabia Revision Lists. 5,919 records completed for 1,270 families. Revisions added for different towns and years, including Akkerman, Beltsy, Faleshty, Kishinev, Kiliya, agricultural colonies in Soroki uezd - Markuleshty, Mereshevka, New Teleneshty, and more.

• Bessarabia Deportation project. 1,346 original records had been updated, and 1,345 new records were added. The original database, 'Moldovan Victims of Soviet Oppression 1941-1951', has now been replaced with the updated database titled 'Moldavian Jewish Victims of Soviet Oppression', to accommodate all the changes and improvements. Total number of records is 4,750.

• Jewish Cemeteries. The Cemetery List was updated and now it includes 96 cemeteries Jews were buried.

  Two Jewish cemeteries were photographed and indexed:
  - Gershunovka (Gherşunovca), Balta uezd, Podolia gub., now in Moldova (Transnistria). 24 records with 24 photos were sent to JOWBR, but most of the graves do not have inscriptions. Here is a link to Cemetery report, it includes all images.
  
  - Vertuzheny colony Jewish cemetery, Soroki uezd, now in Floreshti district of Republic of Moldova. 81 records with 81 photos were sent to JOWBR, 29 images of Unknown graves. Here is a link to Cemetery report.

Bessarabian Databases. Updates:

• Deportation project, plan to upload to JewishGen in December of 2025.
  Current step for the project “Moldavian Jewish Victims of Soviet Oppression” consists of utilizing information from “The collection of documents of people subjected to political repressions during the totalitarian Soviet regime, the 20s-90s of XXs century” (Colecsia documentelor persoanelor supuse represiunilor politice in perioada regimului sovietic totalitar, anii 20-90 ai sec. al XX-lea). New records that were absent from the original database were included and some of the existing records were updated with new information from the document mentioned above. As of the end of September, 210 records were updated, and 895 new records were added. By the end of the year about 1200 new records will be uploaded into the database.

• Revision Lists records, plan to upload to JewishGen in December of 2025. 2,262 records are completed. We are working with records from following towns: Kiliya, Soroki, Izmail, Orgeev, Kishinev, Ataki and others. See the progress.

• Vital Records, plan to upload to JewishGen in December of 2025. 3,924 records are completed. We are working with Birth, Marriage and Death records for Kishinev, Beltsy, Khotin, and more. See the progress.

• Acquisition of New Records. Several new sets were found and some ordered from Moldovan Archive, and also found some records from Czernowitz Archive with records from Khotin uezd.
  The Acquisition Data Manager is Semion Sucholutsky.


• Bessarabia Court Records, plan to upload to JewishGen in December of 2025.
  1,148 records are completed from funds 41, 43, 534, 63 and 679:
  F.41 - Soroki-Yassy uezd court
  F.43 - Orgeev uezd court
  F.44 - Cahul uezd court
  F.49 - Management of insolvent debtors
  F.54 - Civil cases of the Chisinau City Temporary Magistrate
  F.63 - Yassy uezd Prosecutor
  F.679 - Chisinau Police Station.

• Bessarabia Out-of-town Jews Records.. 2,494 records including Jewish men, registered in Bessarabia, but residents of Tiraspol, Letichev, Mogilev-Podolskiy, Tulchin and more.

• Bessarabia Revision Lists. 4,726 records completed for 892 families. Revisions added for different towns and years, including Kishinev, Brichevo, Kiliya, 24 villages-agricultural colonies in Yassy uezd, and more.

• Jewish Cemeteries. Kishinev Jewish Cemetery - added 6,686 records with 3,576 images. At this time we have 18,751 burial records with 14,150 images at the cemetery. See updates at the cemetery Report for Kishinev Jewish cemetery.
  

Bessarabian Databases. Updates:

• Out-of-Town Jews, plan to upload to JewishGen in June-July of 2025. 2,293 records are completed. We are working with Jews registered in Bessarabia and lived in Kherson and Podolia gubernias See the progress.

• Court Documents, plan to upload to JewishGen in June-July of 2025. 1,944 records now in process. We are working with Court documents from Bendery uezd, Beltsy uezd and more

Bessarabian Databases. Updates:

• Deportation Records, plan to upload to JewishGen in June of 2025. 457 records are completed. Here are the details:
  For “Moldavian Jewish Victims of Soviet Oppression” project current steps, first data from the National Archive “The Collection of documents of persons convicted by military courts, local judges, 1920-1990” was utilized to update the JewishGen database. This update added fathers' names, birthplaces, years of exile, and links to the corresponding case files in the National Archive. New records that were absent from the original database were also included. As a result, 29 records were updated, and 273 new records were added.

• Court Documents, plan to upload to JewishGen in June of 2025. 1240 records are completed. We are working on Tighina (Bendery) district prefecture, Beltsy County Prefecture, Bessarabian Customs District, Ungheni Customs, Chisinau Central Prison, Soroca County Tribunal, Tighina City Court.
