8/26/2024 10:17 AM Although the stone is partially dilapidated I can read the following:
at top are the initials for Here Rests or Here is buried
Baruch the son of Issur, passed on
4th of, or maybe 5th of or maybe 8th of the Jewish month of Shevat, in the year 5694? 5695? or 5698? (since the creation of the world) (= 5 Feb 1934, 24 Jan. 1935 or 22 January 1938)
The five letters on the bottom row are the initials of a verse "May his soul be bound in the bundle of life"
A direct quote from the Book of the Prophet Samuel / Shmuel A, 25: 29, that is traditionally engraved on Jewish tombstones.
Issur is an old Yiddish name. Some say a variant for the name Yisroel others say not)
