TZIVYA daughter of Reb Shmeril

May her soul be bound up in the bond of life.

Cecilia's Hebrew name means female deer. I've heard it pronounced both as TZIV-ya and as TZVEE-ya (since there are no vowels on the stone, it is hard to know how it was pronounced in this case).

'Reb' does not mean rabbi.

Shemeril is a Yiddish name. It is likely derived from the Hebrew names Shmarya or Shmaryahu, both of which mean "G-d protects". It might also be derived from Shmuel, the Hebrew for Samuel.
