Here lies

an unblemished and honest man,

He acted with honesty and did acts of justice,

G-d fearing all of his days

the Chaver Reb Eliezer

son of Reb Chayim Veinberg of blessed memory [this refers to the father]

He passed away at a satisfactory [old] age

On the 2nd day of Iyar of the year 5745

May his soul be bound up in the bond of life.

I believe that I explained the title Chaver in my response to one of your other posts.

Eliezer [eh-lee-EH-zer] is a Biblical name.

Chayim, usually written as Chaim, pronounced CHAH-yim, with the Ch as in Chanukah or Bach, means life. Some men with this name have Hyman or similar as their secular name.

The third of Iyar, 5745, corresponds to 23/24 April, 1985.
