Would great appreciate the full translation of the Hebrew inscription on this fallen headstone of my Great Uncle Louis (Leib) Gin. Was 22 when he passed away in June 1908.
Thanks for your help in advance.

9/17/2025 6:27 PM Here lies

the "Avrech" Yehuda Layb

son of Aharon Hillel of the Gin family

He was 26 years old at his death

and he passed away with a good name [reputation] on Thursday

the 19th day of the month of Sivan 5668

May his soul be bound up in the bond of life.
----------------------------------------------
The name of the deceased is preceded by the term “Avrech”. This term is usually used to describe a young unmarried man who devotes his time to studying Jewish texts.

He had a common 'double' Hebrew name: Yehudah (which is Hebrew for Judah) and Layb (which is Yiddish for lion). The symbol for the tribe of Judah was a lion. Therefore, some men with either of these names have a secular name related to lion, such as Leo, Leonard, etc. Presumably, this is why he was named Louis.

Aharon, Aaron in English, is a Biblical name. Hillel (normally spelled slightly differently in the Hebrew than is shown here) was a famous rabbi.

The 19th of Sian, 5668, corresponds to June 17/18, 1908.
