Here lies a simple and upright man who rushed to give charity and do good deeds. Our master and Rabbi Yitzchok Eliezer the son of Kasriel (hard to read) Feniger of blessed memory. Passed away on 7 or 17 Elul 5694.
May his soul be bound in the bonds of life.
7 Elulu would convert to Sat, 18 August 1934 and
17 Elul would be Tue, 28 August 1934.

‘Reb’ is an honorific; his father was not a rabbi. The name of the deceased, however, is preceded by an abbreviation that represents the words “our teacher, the rabbi”. This normally indicates that the person had rabbinical ordination, not necessarily that he was the rabbi of a synagogue or community. I need to point out that this abbreviation occasionally appears in error (or, sometimes, simply as words of praise to indicate that the person was scholarly), so I would suggest trying to get confirmation of his rabbinical status – if any – from a second source.

Yitzchak is Hebrew for Isaac [the ch is pronounced as in Chanukah or Bach].

Eliezer [eh-lee-EH-zer] is a Biblical name that means G-d is my help.

His father’s name (which I originally read as Kasriel but is actually Pesachya [peh-SACH-ya, again with the same sound for ch]), is a Hebrew name that means G-d opens.

The 7th of Elul 5654 began at sunset on August 17th, 1934, and ended at sunset on the 18th.
