I would appreciate a translation especially if it says "son of .....". Trying to find possible family.

MEIR MOSHE son of Reb Eliyahu

He passed away 5 Tishri 5723
--------------------------------------
Meir [may-eer] means one who brings light.

Moshe is Moses. Many men with Moshe as part of their name have the secular name of Morris, as is the case here.

'Reb' is an honorific; it does not mean rabbi.

Eliyahu [eh-lee-YAH-hoo] is Hebrew for Elijah. There are no rules for 'matching' religious and secular names, but there are some conventions that are followed by many. In addition to Elijah, I'd suggest that Elliott might be a possibility, or any name beginning with E. Keep in mind that these are educated guesses, and the secular name might have been something completely different.
