7/7/2025 2:56 PM Hello,
Below is all the useful information. Also, here are a few important notes:

First, the middle names of individuals here are patronymics, meaning they are derived from the name of the father. As such, Lejba Berkowicz KACZOREK’s father was probably named Berko. I believe that the names (ex. Fejga Szachnowna) listed for the mothers of the bride and groom are patronymics also and not maiden surnames, such that Fejga was the daughter of Szachna.

Also, the record is confusing in that is separately uses participles of the verbs zrodzić and urodzić, both of which typically refer to birth. The bride, for example, is recorded as “zrodzoną w Mieście Stawiskach Urodzoną tu w Łomzy” (translated below). There is probably a nuance here that is escaping me.

Time and Place of Record: Łomża, 26 (14 [in the older Julian calendar]) January 1849, 4 p.m.

Date of Religious Marriage: 26 January 1849

Local Rabbi: Osiej Beniaminowicz Dyskin

Groom: Moszk Herszk Lejbowicz KACZOREK, young man, 20 years old; son of Lejba Berkowicz KACZOREK and Fejga Szachnowna, victual merchants, [parents] residing in Łomża; [groom] born in Łomża, residing with his parents

Bride: Kejla Idzkowa LEWKOWICZ, widow, 25 years old; daughter of Mortko Lejzorowicz TYTEF and the deceased Sora Herszkowna, born in the town of Stawiski, [bride] born here in Łomża [SEE NOTE ABOVE], maintaining herself as a day-laborer

Witnesses: both Jewish; Szmul Sendrowicz CHOJKA, 61 years old; and Szmul Moszkowicz GIEŁCZYNSKI, 36 years old; both synagogue sextons residing in Łomża

Marriage Banns: 6, 13, and 20 January 1849 at the Łomża synagogue.

Mortko and Lejba, fathers of the spouses, were present and orally consented to the marriage. The couple declared that they had not made a prenuptial agreement. The act was read to those present and the witnesses, and signed by the rabbi and the witnesses; the spouses are illiterate.
