These two images of the same headstone were taken in May 2025 (left side) by me and about 7-8 years ago (right side) by chewra.com. Grave #279 in the Hotzenplotz old Jewish cemetery. Chewra says only that is Bendet and d 1836. I would like to know if there is any more that can be gleaned from these photos. Thank you! - Liza

6/22/2025 3:17 PM Again, there is text obscured by the grass at the bottom. Important details can often be found at the bottom of gravestones.

The pitcher at the top would indicate that the deceased was a Levite, although I do not see the expected word "haLevi". That being said, I do not see -- or cannot make out -- the name of the father. (Usually, it is the name of the father that is followed by "haLevi". Perhaps it is all the way at the bottom, although that is an unusual location for the father's name).

The date of death was the 18th of Adar, 5596 (March 6/7, 1836).
