I'm writing a social history of my family. This is the birth record of Julia Wischek, her parents were Samuel Wischek and Ruchela Adam, her parents were Israel Adam and Ester Schochet. I want to learn the details of dates, locations and occupations if possible. Ruchela was my aunt, Israel and Ester were my great-grandparents. Thanks so very much for your help. I'll make good use of the information!

Hello,

The daughter, Julia, was born and named on 10 September and 19 September, respectively, in 1908, at 38 Gródecka street (ulica Gródecka, Городо́цька in Ukrainian) in Lwów. This is apparently quite a prominent street in the city. The record does not specify it to be the parents’ residence, but a directory or population register might clarify this.

The father, Samuel Wischek, is recorded as a house painter (“malarz pokojowy”) in Lwów. The mother, Rachela née Adam in Lwów, is the daughter of the leatherworker (“rymarz”; declined as “rymarza”) Izrael Adam and his wife Estera née Schochet in Lwów.

The witnesses are Maks Berger and Bernard Bach (or Back), both journeyman shoemakers (“czeladnicy szewscy”) in Lwów. The midwife is Mina Wittels.

As noted in an annotation, the parents were married in Lwów on 20 May 1906, as recorded in the marriage record for 1906, p. 156, entry 156.
