Dictionaries are proving less than helpful with the cause of death: for _bubor_, Országh-László says "pemphigus", which is apparently a very rare skin disease, while for _fakadék_, the best I could find is an ethnographic compilation that suggests "impetigo" -- aka "school sores", annoying but not remotely deadly. I've gone with a more-or-less literal translation based on _buborék_ "bubble" and _fakad_ "bursts (into), springs (forth), gushes (out)". (_Sírva fakad_ "bursts into tears".)

Yes, the copyist appears to have written the surname at least two different ways.
6/16/2025 2:35 AM Hello Mor,

FYI....Using Google, I entered "what was the deadly disease in the 1800s that was caused by bursting bubbles"? AI suggested Smallpox. So perhaps continue searching the Internet on your own to see if this coincides.

Jo
