6/11/2025 4:13 PM Here you go David. This record was actually written in German but of course in a Hungarian-language environment and by a Hungarian speaker. The common nouns are German (though in many cases written with Hungarian spelling conventions). The proper nouns are probably also best interpreted by a Hungarian speaker (which I am not).

6/12/2025 12:59 PM is there such a town with the name Szensal Peszt?
6/13/2025 1:56 PM No, there's no such place as "Szensal Peszt". Nor is there a "Kikőnős", and there's no county that would abbreviate to "Sem". The only placename in the groom's entry that actually exists is Lomna, of which there were several, one of them in Zemplén county. (It's now Lomné in Slovakia.)

The bride's entry is slightly better: I'm pretty sure "E. Tartso" is trying to be Erdő-Tarcsa in Nógrád county, which is also where Palotás is. (They also have in common that their Jewish residents were recorded in Szirák.)

Getting back to the groom's entry, I'm wondering if "Kikőnős" is a miscopied Kiskőrös? That's a town that was in Pest-Pilis-Solt-Kiskun county. (It's now in Bács-Kiskun.) It's the middle of the Great Plain, so nowhere near either Zemplén or Nógrád, but clearly, the groom traveled.

The closest I've found to "Szensal" is Szancsal in Küküllö county, but that's Transylvania, so it rather stretches credibility here. I suspect it must be a miscopied abbreviation of something.
6/15/2025 3:28 PM Kikőnős is referring to
Nagykökényes near palotas.
and E. Tartso is referring to Erdő-Tarcsa.
