Here lies

the Rabbi ZILBER

The rabbi, rabbi ELIEZER

son of the rabbi, rabbi Bunim Tzemach, may his memory be as a blessing [this refers to the father]

the genius of the generation in Torah learning and acts of kindness

his deeds were tremendous in saving Jews during the Holocaust

this wonderful leader established great reforms

the head of the rabbis in America

He passed away at the age of 87 on the 9th of Shvat 5728

May his soul be bound up in the bond of life.

Eliezer is a Biblical name, pronounced eh-lee-EH-zer.

Bunim is a Yiddish name. Tzemach is Hebrew for branch or sprout.

The 9th of Shvat, 5728, began at sunset on February 7th, 1968, and ended at sunset on the 8th.

Instead of 'reforms', it would have been more accurate for me to write 'rulings'. (The Hebrew word is Takanot).
