MONNA son of Reb David Ber

He passed away 9 Marcheshvan 5723

----------------------------------------------
Monna is a Yiddish name that I have not encountered before. It may be derived from a Hebrew name beginning with an M sound, such as Moshe or Mordechai or others.

'Reb' is an honorific; it does not mean rabbi.

The second part of his father's name, Ber, is Yiddish for Ber. In my answer to your previous post, I explained about the common double name, Dov Ber. I can't help but wonder whether perhaps the father's name here was also Dov Ber, and there is a mistake in the engraving? (The Hebrew names Dov and David look very similar).

The month of Marcheshvan is also known by the shorter name of Cheshvan. The 9th of Marcheshvan, 5723, began at sunset on November 5th, 1962, and ended at sunset on the 6th. The secular date given on the stone is the 5th, which would indicate that he passed away between sunset and midnight of that date.
