On  Response
6/8/2025 4:08 PM Here lies

my dear mother, Mrs.

SARAH RIVKA daughter of Reb Dov Ber

She passed away 17 Iyar 5686

May her soul be bound up in the bond of life.

--------------------------------------------------
The second part of her name, Rivka, is Hebrew for Rebecca.

'Reb' is an honorific; it does not mean rabbi.

Her father had a ‘double’ Hebrew name: Dov (which is Hebrew) and Ber (which is Yiddish); both words mean bear. Many men with either of these names have a secular name that sounds similar to bear, such as Bernard, Barry, Barney, etc.

Dov is pronounced as in "She dove into the water".
