I recently found this document in Yiddish that was labeled as being from "the Human Life Society" of Smilovichi, but I have no idea whats really in here. Or can confirm where its from.

I've uploaded the first page of the document, and an extract of page six - what appears to be a list of names?

I would appreciate it if someone could take a glance through, and let me know:
-a summary of what they see in page 1
-whats really on page 6? My family surname is Eig (Russian: ЭЙГ Hebrew: אייג) - so if that appears I would be grateful if that could be noted!

Thank you!

On  Response
5/7/2025 4:16 PM It's in Hebrew not Yiddish

5/7/2025 4:27 PM According to what is written on the first page attached to the register in the National Library of Israel:

The register includes the names of the members and volunteers, as well as the names of the collectors elected by ballot each year.
"Introduction to the Register", "Statements of the Society" and "Regulations".

5/7/2025 4:32 PM Thank you for the correction - I've updated the language. I'm hoping that someone can glance through and give a bit more context. What is the society? Why was it created? Who is in it? Is it even really from Smilovichi?
5/7/2025 4:43 PM Chayei Adam is a book of halacha written by Rabbi Avraham Danzig in Vilnius in the late 1800s
And it became a book that homeowners studied after a day's work in the synagogues
Such a society existed in many towns throughout Lithuania and Poland.

In Vilnius itself there was also a "Hayei Adam" society.

And this notebook does indeed belong to the "Hayei Adam" society established in Smilovichi in 1864
5/8/2025 9:57 PM There are no surnames in the list.
According to Jewish tradition, a person's name consists of their given name, and the given name of their father. All the people in this list are males, their names are given in the format X son of Y.
