On  Response
5/7/2025 2:51 PM Again, there is no surname here.

The deceased had a triple name: Chaim Ephraim Shmuel

While triple names do appear from time to time, they are relatively uncommon. When the first of three names is Chaim [CHAH-yim, with the CH as in Chanukah], this sometimes indicates that this name, which means life, may have been officially added to the original name (in this case, Ephraim Shmuel) if the person was extremely ill.

Ephraim [ef-RAH-yim] is the name of one of the 12 tribes of Israel.

Shmuel [SHMOO-ayl] is Samuel.

His father's name was Pesach [PEH-sahch, with the ch as in Chanukah]. This is the Hebrew name for Passover, and is also used as a man's name.

The date of death was 20 Tevet 5680. This date began at sunset on January 10th, 1920, and ended at sunset on the 11th.

On this stone, the father of the deceased is preceded by the abbreviation that is translated as "our teacher, the rabbi". See the comments in my previous response.
