Can anyone make out the name of this town and county from the 1869 Hungarian Census? It is the birthplace of my ggg grandfather, Moses Edelman, b. 1789. It is something like Friso, Sarosu? In 1869, per the census, he was living in Dubine. Thanks!!!!

Hello Randy,

This is one possibility which I found in the JewishGen Shtetel Finder for Sarasau. It used to be in Hungary, but now it is in Romania. It may or may not be the place you are searching. If you know how to use this tool/source, then you can try various spellings and come up with several possibilities....Jo

Hi,

the name of the place is Fricso (Hungarian name), today it is called Fricovce (Slovak name). It is a village west from Presov, in Eastern Slovakia. The name of the region is Saros (Saris in Slovak).
