Here lies

an important and worthy woman

CHANNAH daughter of Reb Aharon the Cohen, wife of Elimelech Brostof

She built her home with wisdom, a woman of valor to her husband

She dedicated all her days for the redemption of our people and our land

She died on Sunday the 22nd of Sivan 5715

May her soul be bound up in the bond of life.

'Reb' is an honorific; it does not mean rabbi.

Her father was a Cohen, member of the priestly tribe that traces back to Aaron, Moses' brother. This designation is passed from father to son.

Most gravestones do not include the husband's name in the Hebrew. Mentioning him might indicate that he was an important member of the community.

There is a typo in her Hebrew date of death. It is given as the 32nd day of Sivan. There is no such date, but the 22nd is an exact match for Sunday, June 12th, 1955.
