This stone is quite worn, as you might have noticed.

Here is my best reading:

Here lies

our dear __________ mother

YETTAH [?] / ITAH [?]

daughter of Reb Menachem Mendil

She passed away __ Elul 5685

May her soul be bound up in the bond of life.

The word between "dear" and "mother" is totally gone. If she died before her husband, it might have read "and my wife", although usually the reference to wife preceded the reference to mother (and the secular text also only says "mother", not "wife").

Her name is almost entirely obliterated, except possibly for a "Hay" at the end. Women with the secular name Yetta often -- but not always -- had the Yiddish name of Yettah or the Hebrew name of Itah as their Jewish name.

Her father's name is preceded by 'Reb'; this is an honorific, and does not mean rabbi.

The exact Hebrew date is also impossible to read, but the month was Elul and the year was 5685. If the secular date was the 6th of September, 1925, then the Hebrew date was the 17th of Elul, 5685 (if she died before sunset) or the 18th (if she died after sunset).
