Part of an accounts book of my great-grandfather's general store at Pitt Town, a NW outer area of Sydney. One page of documents held by NSW State Archives from his bankrupcy case. He had been a convict, born in Warsaw, but free before the 1860s. I'm curious about whether this has product names & quantities and/or customers names or locations. Also whether the "flavour" of Yiddish suggests anything about his background.

11/16/2021 12:45 PM Here's a surprise for you, this is English. He is writing in English with Yiddish orthography. He must not have learned the English alphabet.

He is recording money he has given out or taken in between certain time dates. Likely this was required for his bankruptcy.

The amounts on the left could be pounds, shillings and pence, but I'm not up on my English denominations.

the dates covered are 1859 and 1860
