He passed away 9 Nisan 5705/5708

May his soul be bound up in the bond of life.

'Reb' is an honorific; it does not mean rabbi.

The last digit of the Hebrew year is not clear; it might be the letter Hay, representing a 5, or the letter Chet, representing an 8.

If the date was 9 Nisan 5705: This date began at sunset on March 22nd, 1945, and ended at sunset on the 23rd.

If the date was 8 Nisan 5708: This date began at sunset on April 17th, 1948, and ended at sunset on the 18th.

You asked about the names: Shraga and Feivel are both Yiddish names. This is not my area of expertise, but a bit of quick googling tells me that each name is derived from a word that means candle or light, and that these two names are often found together.

Tzvi is Hebrew for deer, and Aryeh is Hebrew for lion.
Men with the Hebrew name Tzvi sometimes have a secular name similar to Harry (because the Yiddish word for deer is Hirsch), and men with the name Aryeh sometimes have a secular name similar to Leo, Leon, etc. Note that there are no actual "rules" that say the Jewish and secular names have to match in any way, so his secular name(s) -- if he had any --might have been totally different.

Comparing the last character of the year with the last character of then name Aryeh, - a ה which equals 5, on the one hand, and with the first character of the word beloved - a ח which equals 8 - I'd say the year is more probably 5708.

Shraga comes from the Aramaic word for candle, not really Yiddish...
