It came to pass in the town of Czyżew on the 26th of March 1833 at 6:00 PM, that there appeared [before us] the Jew Chaim [illegible], treasurer of this city, and the Jew Szmul Majer Leybowicz Ławski, a day laborer in the city of Łomża, a bachelor, age 18, born in the city of Łomża, and Leyb Majerowicz, a […] salt merchant, and Ester Moszkówna, a couple residing in the city of Łomża, and Chinda Michłewna Gorzalczany, a single woman, age 16, [daughter] of Michel Józefowicz Gorzalczany and Gitla Maksymówna, a married couple, innkeepers living in Czyżew, living since birth with her parents, and in the presence of Leybko Majerowicz Ławski and Michel Juzkowicz Gorzalczany, the fathers of the newlyweds, and, in the presence of the witnesses Jankiel Szpitalny, synagogue sexton, age 52, and Mordko Smołka, salt merchant, age 52, a resident of Czyżew – Before us on this day, between Szmul Majer Leybowicz Ławski and Chinda Michlówna Gorzalczany a religious marriage was concluded and this marriage was approved verbally by Leybko Majerowicz Ławski and Michel Juzefowicz Gorzalczany, the fathers of the newlyweds, and no further objection to this union was raised. The newlyweds stated that they had not concluded any prenuptial agreement. This document was read out to those present and was duly signed by all parties except for Chinda Michlewna Gorzalczany, who does not know how to write.
