our dear father

Reb David Shachneh son of Reb Nissan

He passed away 18 Menachem Av 5712. May his soul be bound up in the bond of life.

Again, 'Reb' is an honorific; it does not mean rabbi.

The month Menachem Av also has a shorter name: Av.

The 18th of Menachem Av of the year 5712 began at sunset on August 19th, 1932, and ended at sunset on the 20th.
