Here Lies (two-letter abbreviation inside the star)
The woman (or wife) Mrs. Sarah Itta
Daughter of Mr Yehuda
Died on the 14th of Tishri
In the year 5691
At the age of 56 (literally, "daughter of 65 years")
May her soul be bound up for life eternal (5-letter abbreviation forming the last line)

Her name is preceded by a word that indicates an adult woman. It is usually translated as "Mrs.", but there is nothing on the stone to show that she was married or had children.

'Reb' is an honorific; it does not mean rabbi.

Her father's name, Yehudah, is Hebrew for Judah. This does not mean that this was her father's secular name, however.

The 14th of Tishri of the year 5691 began at sunset on October 5th, 1930, and ended at sunset on the 6th.

Hello Amy,

As I know it, the letters Mem-Resh-Sov / M-R-S are used to indicate that a woman was married, especially since the tombstones almost always indicate only the name of the deceased as daughter or son of the father. Generally, there is no mention of the name of the mother nor the husband.

Also, for clarification there is no surname inscribed in Hebrew on the tombstone. Some people use the word "Mr." to translate the Hebrew word "Reb" to show a sign of respect preceding a given name. It does NOT serve to indicate any relationship to a surname. Her father's Hebrew single given name is Yehudah.
