I'm hoping to get the Hebrew inscription across the top of the gravestone translated in the hopes it gives his father's name.

8/15/2021 12:52 PM You are most interested in the father's name. Shraga Feivel is a Yiddish name, with no real equivalent in English. In addition, there are no 'rules' for matching Jewish and secular names. That being said, is it likely that his secular name might be one that begins with an S (Sam was a very popular choice for immigrants), and Feivel might have led to a middle name such as Philip.
8/15/2021 2:58 PM Hello Amy,

For the name Shraga Feivel, I'm going to refer you to the JewishGen Given Name Database. When searching, use the spelling Shraga and the country of Poland. You will find that on this page, it shows both Shraga and Feivel used together. There is additional background information that you might find of interest.

If you need help in accessing the information, please feel free to let me know....Jo
