A great sorrow [mourning] in Brooklyn.

Yesterday, Sunday of [the week in which the Torah portion is] the portion P'kudei, the prominent and G-d fearing rabbi, Rabbi Layb Grodensky, passed away; the funeral will be today, Monday, at 12 noon, from 229 Lynch [?] Street, Brooklyn. He will be buried on the plot of the Chevrah Shas of Brooklyn, Mount Zion Cemetery.

Eulogies will be delivered in the Keser Torah synagogue. All members of the Chevrah Shas and those who knew the honored deceased should come and give final respect to the deceased. May his soul be bound up in the bond of life.

"Chevrah Shas" was likely a group of men who met in order to study Mishnah and/or Gemarah [the oral tradition of Judaism] together, and who had purchased a plot of land in the cemetery for members of their association.
