Here lies

My son, the beloved of my soul,

the crowning glory of my head, YOSEF ZE'EV,

son of Reb Eliezer Lipman

Volfovitz.

He passed away on 24 Tamuz 5697.

May his soul be bound up in the bond of life.

'Reb' is an honorific; it does not mean rabbi.

The 24th of Tamuz of the year 5697 began at sunset on July 2nd, 1937, and ended at sunset on the 3rd.
