our dear father

Yeshayahu son of Reb Tzvi

He passed away 16 Adar II 5687

May his soul be bound up in the bond of life.

His Hebrew name, Yeshayahu, would be Isaiah in a direct English translation. There is no connection between this name and his secular name; however, this is quite common.

In a Hebrew leap year, the 12th month, Adar, is replaced by two months, Adar I and Adar II.

Both the father and son have single given names. The word Reb, preceding the name of the father, is used as a title of respect, however it does not imply rabbi.....Jo
