This is the 1918 Death Registration of Josef Halpersohn. Please translate. I am particularly interested to know what the word is before Josef's name: "und zeigte an, daß der ....... Josef Halpersohn". Does this describe his profession?

Yes, it is standard practice on such documents to include the profession of all those mentioned.

Thus, the person who reported the death was a rabbi: Rabiner Rubi Halpersohn, and the father of the deceased was a merchant: Kaufmann David Halpersohn (he was also deceased).

The deceased is described as a "Privatmann", which translates to "private citizen". This means either: 1) he was independently wealthy, and had never had a profession, or 2) he was now retired from whatever his profession had been.

Josef's birth date is not given; he was born in Medzibos, Russia, and was married to Anna nee Lewin. The name of Josef's mother is also not given.

The date of death was July 7th, 1918.
