our dear father, an honest man,

Our teacher, the rabbi, MOSHE son of Reb Noach

He passed away 23 Cheshvan 5697

May his soul be bound up in the bond of life.

'Reb' is an honorific; his father was does not a rabbi. However, there is an abbreviation in front of Moshe's name that represents the phrase "our teacher, the rabbi". This indicates that the person had rabbinic ordination, not necessarily that he was the rabbi of a community or synagogue. I need to point out that I have found that this abbreviation was occasionally included by mistake, having been copied from another tombstone without its significance being fully understood.

His father's name, which is Noah in English, is pronounced NO-ach.
