This is page one of a letter to me from Yakov Kopelansky, a survivor from Ushpol. I don't know what the letter is about but would guess that its about his experiences during WW II. I would appreciate a translation.

(Some words were difficult to understand and I might have translated them wrong, but you could understand the general content of the letter.)

Dear friend Linda Cantor and your father!
It’s very comforting to hear, that there are those who are interested in the roots of their ancestors, descendants of my birth city Ushpol, in Lithuanian (Uzpaliai) and I thank you from the depth of my heart, for the joy, that it doesn’t let go deteriorating, since unfortunately not all are interested.
I Yankel-Leib Kapelonsky (Koplonsy Yaakov) as it went to our generation, the town Ushpol was inhabited by Jews from Germany, from the times of Komnenos in year 1345, and that’s how our family was grounded and not little of the town’s Jews. I was born 72 years ago, remember the Jewish Folks-school, studied in Cheder, and graduated, and was raised in the town, the education was one of the best, today after so many years, it could be said that it was one of the wealthiest treasures, which was rooted with many generations back, and wells flowed, and we drank the pure water, what we took over from our grandparents and parents.
Mrs. Linda you write that you found in the archives about the town, but not all is there, in every town was their history, and it used to stay, one generation gave over to the next generation, and we children used to write them down in our memories, the small group of surviving town Jews, now are only left few, I can write with the biggest joy from my heart, and I fulfilled the ??? for all holy martyrs the victims of the Lithuanian massacre, the general life of the time described, and collected…
