The first helper has read the second part of her Hebrew name as Hannah. There is no equivalent in Hebrew for the 'a' sound in Hannah. The spelling here is the closest approximation. However, it is likely that it was pronounced the way I have transcribed it: heh-neh.

The 28th of Sivan of the year 5701 began at sunset on June 22nd, 1941, and ended at sunset on the 23rd.

Hello Kent,

Here's my educated opinion on the double given name Chaya Henneh. It was not uncommon for double names to be a combination of one Hebrew and one in Yiddish. Sometimes they were the equivalents of each other, sometimes they were not. I don't know that there was any definite tradition to this way of naming; perhaps it was just the family or community's tradition.

Chaya is a Hebrew name (meaning Life), while Henneh is probably the Yiddish equivalent of the Hebrew name Chana. But...together her Hebrew/Yiddish name was Chaya Henneh.
