The document is a page from the 1921 census of Beregszas (now Ukraine, but then in Czechoslovakia and formerly in Hungary). I already have translations for the column headers, but I need translation/interpretation of the handwritten data in lines 6-8 (Sperber family). Josef Sperber is my great-uncle once removed, and Rosi Sperber is his daughter, born in 1920. I had thought that Josef's wife's name was Tsipora, but it appears as Josefina(?) on the record.

Regarding the names....

#6 - Sperber Josef / (or Jozef). Born 1890

#7 - Sperber Mrs. Josef/(or Jozef). The "nej" portion of the name indicates "Mrs.". It is interesting that her own given name is not stated. It does NOT appear to be written as Josefina as far as I can see. This does not rule out that her name would have been Tsipora, which was probably her Hebrew name. She could have used that or another name as her civil local name. Born 1896

I was using the Hungarian spelling for Mrs. Josef, which would be Josefne. My reply to you was based on that rather than my actual knowledge of Czech. So, perhaps someone else may have more exact info on that part of my reply....Jo

7. Josefnej (?) Sperber (doesn't make sense as woman's name), wife, female, married, b. 15 Aug 1890, birthplace, registered since 1918, residence, Jewish nationality, Jewish religion, can read and write, manages household, household manager, manages her household, was not employed 16 June 1914.

8. Rozi Sperber, daughter, female, single, no birthdate, birthplace, registered since 1918, residence, Jewish, Jewish, can NOT read and write, in school.
