This document was provided by my grandmother, Irma Athene Katz Kustiner to the 1st edition of the Western States Jewish Historical Quarterly, dated October 1968. It is found within the memoirs of Marcus Katz, my great-great-grandfather. I was able to access the Quarterly using the last name of Kustiner in Family Search Books. I am looking for a complete translation of the document for genealogy purposes, and for my immediate family.

10/13/2026 11:48 AM It's a ketubah from Mordekhai son of Moshe hakohen (Katz?) to his bride Leah daughter of Mordekhai. The sum promised (in case of divorce or his death) is $2100. This is unusual – usually the sum is 200 silver zekukim.
Dated Wednesday 20 Av 5613, San Diego, California.
The witnesses are Itsek son of Avraham Goldman and Hyman Manasse. Officiating at the wedding ceremony was Hayim Leyb Kazan(?).
10/13/2026 12:53 PM Marriage Ketubot are traditionally written in the old language of Aramaic, as is the case here.

To the great job that the first helper did, I would just add that the 20th of Av, 5613, corresponds to August 23rd/24th, 1853.

With the exception of the dollar amount mentioned by the previous helper, the rest of the text most likely corresponds to the standard Orthodox Ashkenazic text used for Ketubot.

Here are two websites that provide the Aramaic text and English translations:
